Lakewood Hospital Master Plan
Lakewood, Ohio ![]()
Status: Complete
Lakewood Hospital is a 400-bed acute care, community hospital serving more than 130,000 patients in several buildings ranging in age from 1912 to 2002. Westlake Reed Leskosky was retained in 2006 to perform a Master Plan Feasibility Study in order to evaluate the existing facility and determine an action plan for improvements. The Study addressed several key project initiatives, including: facilitating or strengthening programs related to specialty services lines; converting from a double to single occupancy model for patient rooms; eliminating or replacing antiquated facilities including buildings, central plant and infrastructure; and improving the image and visibility of the hospital. The first phase, estimated at $55 million, provides a modern floor plate for a nursing unit, maximizes the hospital's visibility from the main street and makes a strong design statement.
